Class Project Helps Miracle League
"Ride for a Reason" Fund Raiser Will Buy Swings
New swings for The Miracle League Baseball program of Springdale will be the result of this year's Leadership Springdale class project. Fuel Fitness Club of Springdale is partnering with the Chamber's Leadership Springdale class to host the "Ride for a Reason" RPM Cycling fundraiser, Saturday, March 6, with all proceeds going to construct swings for The Miracle League Baseball program.
Currently under construction in the Randal Tyson Sports Complex at the intersection of 48th Street and Watkins Avenue, Springdale's Miracle League field will provide the opportunity for children with disabilities to play America's pastime. The swings being funded by the "Ride for a Reason" RPM Cycling fundraiser will enhance the park for all who use it.
Cyclists who would like to participate need only to register and pay the $20 fee. Non-cyclists who would like to contribute may make a contribution to the Leadership Springdale class project fund. To register or contribute, simply complete the form below. Class sizes are limited to the first 25 who register. Riders must be 14 years of age or older.
"Leadership Springdale Class XV recognized the opportunity to join a growing list of community partners whose goal is to make The Miracle League Baseball program a reality in Springdale," said class president Bob Arthur. "The only other Miracle League field in Arkansas is in Little Rock and this field will meet a major need. We are pleased we could identify a way, through the purchase of swings, to make The Miracle League Baseball program more enjoyable for hundreds of families."
The Miracle League Baseball program is a specially designed program which allows children four years of age and up with disabilities to play the game of baseball. The field includes special features such as a synthetic turf to prevent injuries, wheelchairs-accessible dugouts and a completely flat surface to eliminate barriers to walkers, wheelchair bound and/or visually impaired players. Any child with a diagnosis may play, and the mission of the Miracle League is to include every child in games no matter his or her special needs.
